Libya – Humanitarian truce (22 Mar. 20)

France welcomes the positive responses by the Government of National Accord and the Libyan National Army to the call for a humanitarian truce in Libya in order to respond to the challenge posed by COVID-19. Priority must be given, in Libya as elsewhere, to the fight against the virus and its spread.

France hopes that this truce will involve halting the transfer of military equipment and personnel, as well as mercenaries, to Libya and calls on both Libyan parties to take this opportunity to agree to the ceasefire proposed in Geneva, under UN auspices, as well as the launch of an inter-Libyan dialogue involving the African Union and the countries in the region.
