Mauritius – Visit by Chrysoula Zacharopoulou (16-18 May 2024)

Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Minister of State for Development and International Partnerships, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is visiting Mauritius from 16 to 18 May 2024.

On 16 May, the Minister of State will represent the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs at the 38th Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Commission, the regional cooperation organization whose presidency Mauritius currently holds and which implements practical projects in the areas of maritime safety, public health and disaster response.

She will hold meetings with several ministers from the countries in the region, which holds a key place in French strategy for the Indo-Pacific.

The Minister of State will then pay a bilateral visit to Mauritius on 17 and 18 May. In this framework, she will be received by the Mauritian authorities and will discuss the priorities of the bilateral relationship with them, in particular in terms of regional cooperation and the ecological transition, as well as current international issues.

The Minister of State will also meet young people and civil society and promote stronger ties with our overseas territories in the Indian Ocean, in particular regarding adaptation to and mitigation of climate change.
