France congratulates Libya for completing the destruction of its chemical weapons stockpiles and complying with the Chemical Weapons Convention.
It also welcomes the work done by Germany, which received Libya’s chemical precursors onto its territory and completely destroyed them under the safest and most environmentally friendly conditions.
The operation was made possible thanks to the technical and financial support of the States Party to the Chemical Weapons Convention, including – in addition to France – Canada, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which controlled the whole of this operation, has done an outstanding job, making this outcome possible.
One hundred and ninety-two states have ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention. France encourages all states to ratify and comply with the Convention.
