Libya - Q&A - Excerpts from the daily press briefing (27 november 2017)

Q - When will the Security Council meet to discuss the situation of the migrants in Libya and what do you expect from this meeting in concrete terms? ?

A - Last week, France called for a Security Council meeting on the issue of human trafficking in Libya. It will take place under Italian presidency on November 28; it will be a public meeting.

This meeting will provide an opportunity for the international community to demonstrate its unity in the face of these despicable practices and to consider new measures to combat the smuggling and trafficking of migrants in Libya.

This issue will also be discussed in depth during the African Union - European Union summit, in which President Macron and the minister for Europe and foreign affairs will participate on November 29 and 30 in Côte d’Ivoire.
