Libya - Q&A – Excerpts from the daily press briefing (21.07.16)

Q - Libya’s national unity government is accusing France of violating its territory because of the presence of French special forces on its soil, three of whom were killed. The national unity government has indicated that it asked Paris for explanations. Can you confirm that request? What is your response?

Q - Libya’s national unity government, which Paris in fact supports, accused France yesterday of violating its territory and says it is unhappy about the presence of French special forces. What is your response?

A - Supporting the national unity government is a priority for France, which has complete confidence in its ability to bring the country together, strengthen state institutions, and restore security.

France encourages all Libyan forces to place themselves under the authority of that government so that they may participate in the rebuilding of that country and in the fight against terrorism.
