Libya – Attack on the Libyan foreign ministry (25 December 2018)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack of December 25 – for which Daesh has claimed responsibility – on the headquarters of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli. France offers its condolences to the victims and to the Libyan people and authorities.

France stands side-by-side with all Libyan forces that are combating terrorism. As Jean-Yves Le Drian said on December 18 in Biarritz, France and its international partners will continue to support the efforts of the Libyans and of the UN Secretary-General’s special envoy, Ghassan Salamé, to help Libya regain lasting stability through the holding of elections in the spring of 2019, in keeping with the commitments made at the Palermo conference of November 13 and in line with the Paris political declaration of May 29.
