Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, had a meeting yesterday with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Libya, Martin Kobler.
He assured him of France’s support for the mediation efforts to bring about, as quickly as possible, a political agreement and the formation of a national unity government.
France welcomes the statement published yesterday by a large majority of the members of Tobruk’s House of Representatives in support of the agreement, despite the obstruction by a minority acting against the political process and the greater interest of the country.
We call on all those in favour of the agreement to unite to establish the national unity government as quickly as possible, to enable Libya to regain its stability and prosperity. The international community is ready to support the Libyan people and their future national unity government.
