Lebanon - Q&A from the press briefing (5 May 2021)
Q : If France has really taken national measures against those who are blocking the formation of the government in Lebanon, can you give an example of someone who has been targeted by these measures?
A : As we already indicated, measures have been taken at the national level aimed at restricting access to France by Lebanese figures involved in political obstruction and corruption; we reserve the right to adopt further measures if the deadlock persists; we have initiated discussions with our European partners on the measures available to the EU to increase pressure in order to resolve the crisis. The minister is currently in Lebanon in order, as he stated, to deliver a very firm message to the political leaders and to express our wholehearted solidarity with the Lebanese people.
