Lebanon - Q&A from the press briefing (17 November 2020)

Q : Do you think that U.S. sanctions on Lebanese figures are helping with the formation of a government or complicating that task?

A: It is the responsibility of Lebanese political forces, and theirs alone, to form a mission-driven government that will fulfill the aspirations of the Lebanese people. The Lebanese political forces have made commitments to this end which they must respect, in Lebanon’s interest. Everyone must do their part. Along with our major partners, and in particular the United States, we are in close contact with Lebanon. For our part, we want to remind Lebanese officials of the demands determining international economic support for Lebanon.
