Q: In Lebanon on September 1, President Macron announced that he hoped to see the formation of a government in Lebanon “within two weeks.” Would France accept a delay in this deadline?

A: As the President and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs have stressed repeatedly, the priority for Lebanon must be the swift formation of a mission-driven government that can implement the reforms that are essential to that country’s recovery.

All Lebanese political forces have embraced this goal. It is up to them to transform this commitment into action without delay. It is their responsibility, as the President said during his visit, and as we continue to remind the Lebanese authorities.
