Lebanon - Q&A from the press briefing (12 May 2021)

Q : Do you think that Hezbollah bears as much responsibility as other political groups for the deadlock in Lebanon and are you advocating sanctions against some of its leaders?

A : In Beirut, the minister noted that Lebanon’s political leaders had not yet assumed their responsibilities and had not yet started to make serious efforts to ensure the country’s swift recovery, despite their commitments. In the face of this obstruction, France has imposed restrictive measures with respect to access to French territory against public figures responsible for the current political deadlock and those involved in corruption. The minister clearly stated in Beirut that if the stalemate continues, these measures could be tightened or extended.
