Lebanon – Israeli army gunfire in the proximity of UNIFIL patrols (27 December 2025)

France condemns the Israeli army gunfire in the proximity of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) patrols on 26 December 2025.

The incident follows a series of similar actions by the Israeli army against UNIFIL in recent weeks.

France calls on Israel to end these violations of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and comply with the ceasefire of 26 November 2024, which is mandatory for all parties. It recalls that both the protection of the Blue Helmets and the safety and security of United Nations staff, goods and premises must be guaranteed, in accordance with international law. In this difficult context, France pays tribute to the courage, professionalism and commitment of UNIFIL personnel. It reiterates its support for the full implementation of the force’s mandate.
