Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is visiting Riga on June 27.
She will meet with Edgars Rinkevics, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, to discuss the future of the EU, especially the future institutional cycle and the multiannual financial framework, as well as the implementation of the bilateral strategic partnership.
The minister of state will also visit the Latvian Parliament (Saeima) where she will meet successively with the chair of the France-Latvia Friendship Group, Dagmara Beitnere-Le Galla, and the chairperson of Saeima’s European Affairs Committee, Vita Anda Terauda.
She will meet with the managers of the important “Rail Baltica” high-speed railway project, which should connect the three Baltic states from 2026.
This year, France will be involved in the celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Riga, to which a French-British squadron contributed in 1919.
