Q: Last week, the Euractiv news site revealed details of a “Franco-German plan” to “normalize” relations between Belgrade and Pristina. This plan contains nine articles: article 1 says that Kosovo and Servia shall develop normal, good neighborly relations with each other based on equal rights; article 2 says that Kosovo and Serbia will be guided by their mutual aspirations to EU membership, etc. Can you confirm that this is indeed a Franco-German diplomatic initiative?

A: France continues to support European mediation efforts to move toward a comprehensive, legally binding agreement between Serbia and Kosovo. France remains involved at the highest levels on this issue, which represents a challenge to European security. President Macron therefore had two separate conversations on November 10 on the sidelines of the Paris Peace Forum with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and with Kosovo’s President and Prime Minister, Vjosa Osmani and Albin Kurti. Discussions are ongoing.
