Serbia – Kosovo – Agreement between Belgrade and Pristina (24 November 2022)

We welcome the agreement reached yesterday between Serbia and Kosovo under the aegis of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mr Josep Borrell.

Through the agreement, the two parties pledged to take immediate measures concerning licence plates in order to avoid escalation. They also agreed to continue without delay the talks on normalizing their relations, on the basis of the proposal made by the High Representative, with the support of France and Germany.

France reaffirms its full support for European mediation, which should enable progress towards a comprehensive and legally binding agreement between Serbia and Kosovo. It recalls that an agreement is essential to allow the two countries to make their European prospects a reality. France calls on the parties to continue discussions in a spirit of compromise and implement the agreements already reached, including the provisions relating to the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.
