Japan – Situation of Carlos Ghosn - Q&A - Excerpts from the daily press briefing (15.01.19)

Q - Does the French government have any comment regarding the continued detention of Carlos Ghosn by the Japanese authorities?

A - Since his arrest on November 19 in Tokyo, the French authorities have been monitoring developments in the situation of Carlos Ghosn very closely. They immediately offered consular protection, as provided for by the Vienna Convention of April 24, 1963, and Mr. Ghosn is continuing to receive consular visits. The French authorities have repeatedly expressed their attachment to the respect for the right to be presumed innocent, which must be taken very seriously.
