Italy – Visit to Italy by Jean-Yves Le Drian (Rome, 5 March 2021)

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian will travel to Rome on March 5.

This will be the first French ministerial visit to Italy since Mario Draghi became the new Prime Minister on February 13. During his visit, Mr. Le Drian will meet with Luigi Di Maio, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

In the morning, the ministers will have an in-depth discussion on Libya to pursue coordination between France and Italy for the purpose of stabilizing that country.

Mr. Le Drian will address other international and European issues on which our countries cooperate and coordinate, in particular the Eastern Mediterranean, Iran, the Sahel and transatlantic relations. They will also discuss the health situation, coordinating measures to end the epidemic, and national vaccination strategies in the European context. Lastly, they will make preparations for the next European Council on March 25-26.
