Nathalie Loiseau, Minister for European Affairs, will visit Rome on July 27, to meet with her counterpart, Sandro Gozi, Italy’s Under-Secretary for European Affairs, and with Domenico Manzione, Under-Secretary of State of the Italian Ministry of Interior, responsible for Migration.
Nathalie Loiseau will visit the headquarters of EUNAVFOR MED Operation Sophia, aimed at combatting migrant trafficking in the Mediterranean, whose mandate has just been renewed until the end of 2018. She has been invited by the Institute of International Affairs to take part in a panel discussion on the revitalization of Europe. Lastly, she will take part in a ceremony to pay tribute to Simone Veil at the Italian Senate.
France stands in solidarity with Italy in its effort to manage the migration crisis. While the EU is facing an unprecedented influx of migrants and refugees, this visit will provide an opportunity to pay tribute to the efforts of the Italian government and to work together to respond to this crisis.
