Palestinian Territories – Opening of the cultural event “Gaza inédite” (Paris and Marseille, March 17-21, 2016)

Running from March 17 through 21 in Paris and Marseille, “Gaza inédite” (“Gaza as you’ve never seen it before”) presents a series of cultural events exploring history, contemporary challenges, film, music and the visual arts.

Organized by the Institut Français de Jérusalem and the Institut Français du Proche-Orient, “Gaza inédite” invites the public to join scholars, journalists, diplomats, artists, humanitarian workers, political leaders, and Palestinian, French and international citizens at round-table discussions, screenings and performances in order to reflect on the challenges currently facing Arab societies, and particularly Gaza.

This series looks at Gaza’s cultural, artistic and scientific vitality, and the role France plays there through its cultural network.

“Gaza inédite” will be inaugurated at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris on Thursday, March 17 at 3 p.m. by France’s consul-general in Jerusalem, and by the Institut Français. Events will be held at the library of the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales and at the Institut des Cultures d’Islam until March 19, and then at Marseille’s Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée on March 21.
