Q : What is your response to the death of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, whom Al Jazeera says was killed “in cold blood” by Israeli forces in Jenin?

A : The death of Shireen Abu Akleh, a journalist for Al Jazeera who was killed this morning while covering an Israeli security forces operation in Jenin, on the West Bank, is deeply shocking. France condemns it and offers its condolences to her family and its wishes for a speedy recovery to her colleague, Ali Samoudi, who was wounded.

France demands a prompt, transparent and full investigation into the circumstances of this tragedy.

France reaffirms its steadfast, unwavering commitment to the freedom of the press and protection of journalists worldwide, as well as all those whose speech contributes to the freedom of information and public debate.
