Israël/Palestinian Territories – Violence in the West bank (27 February 2023)

France is following with the utmost concern the violence under way in the West Bank – in particular in Huwara –, which is threatening to spiral out of control.

France strongly condemns the attack which claimed the lives of two Israelis on 26 February. The violence against Palestinian civilians in unacceptable. It has already killed one person and caused considerable destruction.

France calls on all the parties to avoid stirring up this violence and help to de-escalate. In particular, France calls on the Israeli Government, by virtue of its responsibility as the occupying power, to protect Palestinian civilians and prosecute the perpetrators of the violence committed today.
