Situation in Gaza and Israel - Statement by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs spokeswoman (06 Aug. 2022)

France expresses its grave concern at the escalating situation in Gaza and deplores the Palestinian civilian casualties. It condemns the firing of rockets into Israeli territory and reiterates its unconditional commitment to the security of Israel.

France calls on all parties to exercise restraint to avoid any further escalation, which would first and foremost affect civilian populations.

France recalls all parties’ obligations to protect civilians and comply with international humanitarian law.

France recalls that both Israelis and Palestinians have the right to live in peace, dignity and security, and that a political outlook must be restored with a view to securing a just and lasting peace.
