France is concerned by the demolition orders issued by Israeli authorities for nearly 150 buildings in the Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar (located in the so-called E1 zone, between East Jerusalem and the settlement of Ma’ale Adumim).
This area is of strategic importance to the two-state solution and the contiguity of a future Palestinian state.
These demolition orders pose an imminent threat to an already extremely vulnerable Palestinian community. EU heads of mission visited the Palestinian Authority on February 28 to show their support.
Amid a sharp acceleration in settlement-building and demolitions in the Palestinian Territories, France reiterates its commitment to the two-state solution reaffirmed by UN Security Council resolution 2334, the only way to fulfill the legitimate aspirations of both parties.
