Iraq – Telephone conversation between Jean-Yves Le Drian and Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (25 February 2021)

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke with Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government on February 25.

The minister reaffirmed France’s wholehearted solidarity with the Kurdistan Regional Government following the rocket attacks targeted against Erbil on February 15, as well its attachment to Iraq’s sovereignty and integrity and the stability of the Kurdish autonomous region. He encouraged the Iraqi government and Kurdistan’s regional authorities to strengthen their cooperation to ensure the security of all Iraqi people, including in order to identify the perpetrators of this attack.

In this context, he reaffirmed France’s determination to continue its efforts within the framework of the Global Coalition against Daesh, alongside its local and international partners, and our security cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government.
