Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will pay an official visit to France on October 5, in response to the President’s invitation conveyed to him by Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian during his visit to Iraq on August 26.
Mr. al-Abadi will be received by the President and will meet with the foreign minister and armed forces minister. He will also meet with representatives of French companies who want to participate in the rebuilding and economic redevelopment of Iraq.
In view of the considerable progress that has been made in recent months in the retaking of territories held by Daesh, France wanted to give new momentum to its relations with Iraq in every field and to expand our cooperative actions, economic relations, and political dialogue with Iraq. It will continue to stand by the Iraqi authorities to help them meet the challenges of rebuilding, national reconciliation, and the establishment of inclusive governance.
