Iran – threats against the IAEA Director General (30 June 2025)

France strongly condemns the threats against the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). It reiterates its full support for the Agency and its director general in implementing its mandate independently and impartially.

France expresses its deep concern over any questioning of Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA. It calls on the Iranian authorities to fully and immediately fulfil their international obligations under the Safeguards Agreement. Finally, it recalls the Iranian Government’s responsibility for ensuring the safety and security of the Agency’s staff in Iran.

France repeats that only a robust, durable and verifiable solution is capable of addressing the grave concerns raised by the Iranian nuclear programme.
