Q. Does France have any comment on the death sentences given to three young Iranians for their participation in protests last November in Iran?

A. France is deeply shocked by these sentences.

France reaffirms its commitment to the freedom of expression and peaceful demonstration as well as its steadfast opposition to the death penalty everywhere and in all circumstances. It remains resolutely committed to the universal abolition of this unjust, inhumane and ineffective punishment. It calls on all nations that still have the death penalty to establish a moratorium on it ahead of its ultimate abolition.
