Q - Do you have any comment on the attacks in Tehran for which Islamic State just claimed responsibility?
A - We condemn in the strongest possible terms the attacks on the Iranian Parliament and the tomb of Imam Khomeini in Tehran.
We offer our sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
We are closely following developments in the situation, in conjunction with our embassy there.
Q - In an interview with Le Figaro this morning, Ali Shamkani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, expressed his desire to strengthen the security relationship and exchange of intelligence with France. Is this feasible?
A - As the President said the day after President Hassan Rouhani’s reelection, France is “committed to expanding the political dialogue with Iran” and “reaffirms the need for a diplomatic resolution of the conflicts that have plunged the Middle East into mourning, and calls on Iran to be part of this approach.”
