India – Visit by Catherine Colonna (14-15 September 2022)

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna will visit India on September 14 and 15.

On September 14 she will be in Delhi, where she will have a working meeting with her counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. She will be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will meet with his national security advisor, Ajit Doval. These discussions will cover every aspect of our bilateral relationship, particularly our nearly 25-year strategic partnership and our cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. They will also enable us to make preparations for the upcoming Indian G20 presidency and to address the international situation, especially the war in Ukraine. During this first day of her visit to India, the minister will also visit the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, where she will discuss gender equality with young Indian women as well as opportunities for studying in France.

On September 15, the minister will travel to Mumbai, where she will India’s newest submarine built with French assistance at the Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL) shipyard. At an event hosted by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) think tank, she will deliver a speech on French and European ambitions in the Indo-Pacific and will underscore the important role played by French-Indian cooperation in this key region. She will also take part in the 45th Annual General Meeting of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) where she will talk about our Partnership for the Planet with India.

This full program of visits will cover French-Indian relations in all their diversity: human, political, strategic, military, industrial and cultural.
