India – Telephone conversation of Catherine Colonna with her counterpart (2 Jun 2022)

Ms Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, had a telephone conversation today with Mr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India.

Following on from the discussions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on 4 May, the two Ministers spoke about deepening the French-Indian Strategic Partnership and regional issues.

The two Ministers reiterated their determinations to work for a ceasefire in Ukraine in the face of the war of aggression that Russia has been waging for more than three months, in violation of the fundamental principles of international law. They also spoke about the consequences of the war in Ukraine on global food security and a response to the risks of a food crisis with the FARM Initiative (Food and Agriculture Resilience Mission).
