India – Discussion between Jean-Yves Le Drian and Ajit Doval, the Indian Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor (Nov. 5, 2021)

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian met today with Ajit Doval, the Indian Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor, on the occasion of the 35th session of the India-France Strategic Dialogue, meeting in Paris.

Following on from the conversation between President Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G20 in Rome, the Minister expressed our commitment to deepening the French-Indian strategic partnership and strengthening its various components, especially in the areas of defense, space, civilian nuclear technology, and security.

Mr. Le Drian also addressed priorities with his interlocutor in the fight against climate change.

Mr. Le Drian emphasized the importance of mutual trust between France and India and the importance for the French-Indian partnership to work toward strengthening multilateralism and championing a free, open Indo-Pacific region based on the rule of law.

The Minister urged continued French-Indian coordination, including coordination within the UN Security Council on Afghanistan.
