Hungary – Visit by Clément Beaune (12 October 2021)

Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is in Budapest today to discuss major European challenges with Justice Minister Judit Varga. They will address the rule of law, the green and digital transitions, the European Social Agenda, negotiations on the future Pact on Migration and Asylum, and the Conference on the Future of Europe ahead of the French presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2022.

Mr. Beaune will also meet with representatives of political parties and civil society. He will exchange views with a student panel on the future and on future EU priorities.

Emphasizing France’s commitment to the rule of law, fundamental rights and an independent media, the Minister will meet with representatives of an NGO that defends LGBTQ rights and will visit the headquarters of the Hungarian station Klub Radio.
