Greece – Meeting between Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne and Haris Theoharis, Minister of Tourism (20 May 2021)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke with Haris Theoharis, Greece’s Minister of Tourism, on May 20.

The minister of state and his counterpart discussed developments in the health situation in France and Greece, as well as the strategies to relaunch tourism in both counties, while Greece officially launched its tourist season on May 14. The minister of state reaffirmed the need for close coordination between states in order to facilitate tourism within the European space, in the context of the forthcoming introduction of the Digital Green Certificate which will allow travel to resume.

Lastly, the minister of state and his counterpart discussed the forthcoming meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe due to take place in Athens from June 2 to 4.
