French-German Defence and Security Council (5 February 2021)

A few days after the two years of the Treaty of Aachen, the Franco-German Defence and Security Council held a videoconference, at Germany’s invitation. It followed a meeting of the Council that was held in Toulouse on October 2019 at France’s invitation.

President Emmanuel Macron and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed strengthening European sovereignty and took stock of progress that has been made since the Toulouse meeting and ongoing French-German projects.
