Egypt - Q & A from the daily press briefing (April 6, 2016)

Q - What do you think about the threats to close down the Nadeem Center in Egypt?

R - France is concerned by the threats to close down the Nadeem Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence and Torture. We are monitoring the situation very closely together with our partners, notably our European partners, and hope that a solution can be found so that this association can continue its work, the quality of which we commend.

We reaffirm our support for the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, and our commitment to combating these practices which are contrary to human dignity.

Civil society actors must play a key role in building a pluralist society that respects the rights of all.
