Ecuador - Situation (10 January 2024)

France is closely monitoring the situation in Ecuador and expresses its concern over the acts of violence and hostage-taking that occurred on 9 January.

France expresses its solidarity with the Ecuadorian people and its full support for the rule of law in Ecuador.

We ask French nationals living in Ecuador to exercise the utmost caution and closely follow developments in the situation, referring to the instructions issued by the French Embassy in Quito. French people planning to travel to Ecuador in the coming days are requested to postpone their plans if possible.
