Democratic Republic of the Congo – Attack on MONUSCO (22 June 2020)
France condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack on the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) that took place in North Kivu, in the eastern DRC, on June 22, killing an Indonesian peacekeeper and injuring another, also from Indonesia.
France offers its condolences to the deceased soldier’s loved ones and to the Indonesian authorities. It wishes the injured peacekeeper a speedy recovery.
France also applauds MONUSCO’s commitment and renews its support for that mission at the United Nations.
Those responsible for this attack must be identified and held accountable for their actions.
