Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will receive Marija Pejcinovic Buric, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia, on Thursday in Paris.

The ministers will discuss key current European issues, notably the preparations for the European Council on June 20 and 21, during which the EU’s Strategic Agenda 2019-2024 will be adopted. This will be implemented by Croatia during its first presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2020. They will also discuss the Western Balkans as well as major international issues, notably including the latest developments in North Africa, the Middle East and the Sahel.

They will also discuss the priorities France has set for its chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe: preserving and strengthening the European system of human rights protection; promoting equality and coexistence, combating racism and intolerance and all forms of discrimination, especially on the Internet; responding to new challenges to human rights and the rule of law.

This meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss the vitality of our bilateral relations, reflected by the implementation of the Croatian-French Strategic Partnership 2018-2021 Action Plan, signed by our two countries on April 6, 2018.
