Colombia – Presidential elections (18 June 2018)
France offers its congratulations to Ivan Duque on his election as President of the Republic of Colombia.
We applaud the smooth unfolding of the elections, which confirms the strength of Colombian democracy and the benefits of reestablishing peace.
In recent years, our two countries have established a strong partnership rooted in France’s full support for meeting to the challenges of peace in Colombia and on the intensity of our economic and cultural exchanges. France stands with the Colombian people in the implementation of the peace process. Now more than ever, the joint commitment of our two countries will be necessary on the international scene to preserve the environment, keep the peace and defend multilateralism.
