Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will visit Colombia from July 26 to 28 and Cuba from July 28 to 29.
During his visit to Colombia, the minister will be received by his counterpart, Maria Angela Holguin, and will meet with President-elect, Ivan Duque, in order to establish initial contacts with the future Colombian authorities. He will reaffirm France’s support for the implementation of the peace process as well as our readiness to continue to support Colombia on the path toward reconciliation. This visit will also provide an opportunity to strengthen our bilateral cooperation, notably in the economic, cultural, academic and security fields.
Jean-Yves Le Drian’s visit to Cuba will be the first visit by a European foreign minister since the election of the new president, Miguel Díaz-Canel. It will provide an opportunity to build on the momentum to strengthen political dialogue and economic, cultural, academic and scientific relations between our countries. During his visit, the minister will meet with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, as well as with Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade.
