The "Croisements" [cultural exchanges] festival, which replaced the Années croisées France-Chine 2003-2005 [France-China Cultural Exchange Program], is celebrating its 10th anniversary. This multi-disciplinary event, which has attracted more than 8 million visitors all over China since its inception, is now the largest French cultural festival abroad and the most important foreign cultural festival in China.

The festival is being sponsored by 10 personalities from the Chinese cultural scene this year and will feature, with the support of the Embassy of France in China and the Institut français, more than 400 events in almost 30 cities. Ten artistic disciplines will be showcased: visual arts, architecture and design; new media; classical and contemporary music; jazz and modern music; dance; theater; new circus and street arts; cinema; literature; young audiences.

Several flagship events are scheduled to take place during the festival: an exhibition entitled “Lumière!” [Light!] with around 20 artists from the contemporary arts scene , including Daniel Buren, Laurent Pernot and Zhang Ding, aimed at celebrating 2015, UNESCO’s International Year of Light; performances in Beijing of Molière’s “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme,” directed by Denis Podalydès with costumes by Christian Lacroix; and an exhibition on Le Corbusier in Shenzen. The festival will, for the first time, also showcase culinary arts, with several events planned.
