China – Meetings between Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne and French communities (via video conference, 9 March 2021)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will exchange views today via video conference with members of the French communities established in China.

The minister of state will meet with teams from our embassy in Beijing and from our Consulates General in Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenyang and Wuhan, the elected officials representing French nationals abroad in China as well as representatives from the business community. The French community consists of almost 30,000 people included on the register of French nationals living abroad.

The discussions will focus on the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, notably with respect to health, the economic situation, travel and the academic environment in our community’s French schools. The minister of state will underscore France’s commitment to supporting our compatriots through consular public services, social assistance and education.
