Alstom and its partner, Shanghai Rail Traffic Equipment Development (SRTED), have just been awarded a contract to provide 30 streetcars for the first two streetcar lines in Songjiang, a suburban district of Shanghai. This is the first “Citadis” streetcar project to be implemented in China.
This contract calls for the extensive involvement of French industrial sites and will notably mobilize Alstom’s teams in La Rochelle, Le Creusot, Villeurbanne and Tarbes.
The project, which is worth €72 million, is aimed at revitalizing urban life, while making a contribution to environmental protection. It reflects the vitality of our bilateral cooperation following Laurent Fabius’s 9th visit to China in January 2015 and the state visits by the French and Chinese presidents in 2013 and 2014.
