Jean-Marie Le Guen, Minister of State for Development, Francophonie, and French Citizens Abroad, and Neven Mimica, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, are paying a joint visit to Chad on April 9-11.
They will meet with President Idriss Déby Itno, with whom they will review French and EU relations with Chad as well as regional issues.
On the European level, they will discuss preparations for the Round Table Conference of Donors to Chad, which is to be held this year in Paris, as well the provision of an additional €100 million for the EU’s National Indicative Program for the period of 2014-20. An agreement earmarking €10.3 million from the EU Delegation and the French Development Agency will also be signed for the Bab al Amal project to provide vocational training to young Chadians.
On the bilateral level, after the signing of two financing agreements representing a total of €20 million during his visit this past February, Jean-Marie Le Guen will sign an agreement with the NGO ALIMA to provide €500,000 in funding for a project to combat infant malnutrition in N’Djamena.
