Chad – Conversation between Jean-Yves Le Drian and Albert Pahimi Padacké, Prime Minister of the transitional government (18 May 2021)

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke today with Albert Pahimi Padacké, Prime Minister of Chad’s transitional government.

Jean-Yves Le Drian notably discussed the ongoing transition process and reaffirmed the need to ensure that the transition is of limited duration, takes place in a peaceful manner, in a spirit of dialogue with all political actors and civil society, and allows the swift return of democratically elected institutions. The minister expressed France’s support for the African Union’s initiatives aimed at supporting Chad’s efforts to that end.

The minister reaffirmed our commitment alongside the countries of the Sahel and the importance of our joint efforts to combat terrorism in this region. This conversation also provided an opportunity to review bilateral cooperation.
