France expresses its deep concern at the rising tensions in the Central African Republic. It strongly condemns the increased violence on the part of armed groups and calls for its immediate cessation.

France reaffirms the need to respect the constitutional order and to encourage the holding of peaceful, transparent and credible elections on December 27. It supports the efforts of the UN, especially those of MINUSCA, and the guarantors of the peace agreement to calm the situation and finalize election preparations, in the interests of the people of the Central African Republic. It is up to the people of the Central African Republic alone to elect, in a sovereign manner, their future president.

France strongly denounces the hate speech and disinformation fueling the false rumors and inciting violence.
