Central African Republic – Visit by Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (29-30 March 2021)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, was in the Central African Republic on March 29 and 30 for the inauguration of President Faustin-Archange Touadéra (on March 30), where he represented the President and the Foreign Minister.

Mr. Lemoyne was hosted on March 29 by the President of the Central African Republic, with whom he discussed the country’s political and security situation. He underscored France’s long-term commitment to the people of the Central African Republic and its full support for the efforts of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and the European Union Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM-RCA).

The Minister reiterated France’s strong condemnation of the destabilization attempts carried out by armed groups and certain political leaders, including François Bozizé. He emphasized the need to establish an inclusive political dialogue with the support of the subregion to promote a lasting solution to the crisis in the CAR.

During his visit, he also met with representatives of several other international partners of the Central African Republic.
