Central African Republic - Q&A - Excerpts from the daily press briefing (06.06.17)

Q - More than 300 people have been killed and 10,000 have been displaced in C.A.R. in the last two weeks. Are MINUSCA’s resources adequate and does it have a strong enough mandate to stop the spiraling violence in the Central African Republic?

A - We are closely monitoring the situation in the Central African Republic and fully support the work of MINUSCA which has a strong mandate to carry out its mission, as well as the C.A.R. authorities.

We pay tribute to its contingents, which are paying a heavy price in order to protect the civilian populations and consolidate peace in C.A.R.

France has strengthened its contribution to MINUSCA by providing it with a drone unit in order to strengthen its strategic analysis capabilities.
