Central African Republic – Clashes in Birao (14 septembre 2019)
Clashes between two armed groups, the Popular Front for the Renaissance of the Central African Republic (FPRC) and the Movement of Central African Liberators for Justice (MLCJ), left several dozen dead and many injured, including a MINUSCA soldier, on September 14 in Birao, a town in the northern Central African Republic.
France condemns these clashes in the strongest possible terms; they are a clear violation of the Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in the Central African Republic signed on February 6. It calls on all the parties to abide by the agreement and to end the violence.
France reiterates its support for the Central African authorities in the implementation of this agreement with the backing of MINUSCA and the European Union Training Mission in Central African Republic (EUTM RCA).
