Central African Republic – Attack on MINUSCA (13 Jul. 2020)
France condemns in the strongest possible terms the 13 July attack on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the Gedze area of the Nana-Mambéré prefecture (the western part of the country), which killed one Rwandan peacekeeper and injured two.
France offers its condolences to the deceased soldier’s loved ones and the Rwandan authorities. It wishes the injured peacekeepers a speedy recovery.
France applauds MINUSCA’s commitment and renews its support for the Central African authorities in the implementation of the political agreement for peace and reconciliation in the Central African Republic, signed on February 6, 2019, with the support of MINUSCA and the European Union Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA). It calls on all the parties to abide by the agreement and end the violence.
Those responsible for this attack must be identified and held accountable.
